Projects
Below you will find a number of the projects we've been working on lately.
KPerson
The project
KPerson is a competence development system and a CV database, used by more than 130 people in Waygroup.
KPerson allows people to easily create LinkedIn-style CV's, and generate good looking PDF documents that can be sent out to customers. One of the key things it its ability to let people fill out which skills they posses, as well as their level of proficiency. That makes it easy to find people with a certain skill to staff a project or ask questions. It takes this idea even further, by also allowing people to fill out their desired future level in any skill, indicating what they would like to learn, or what they would rather not work with... This can be the basis for employer-to-employee development discussions, and allows a company to see, at a company-wide level, in what directions its employees would like to improve.
KPerson has a clean and simple user interface, and even comes with a basic iPhone interface.

The process
The KPerson project was started because we needed a good system for maintaining our CV's, and creating attractive PDF's for sending out to customers. We needed it yesterday, and we had a limited budget.
After starting work, we had a working, running prototype in a week, and it took only 5 more weeks to build the entire system, including putting it into production. All this was done using a single specialist, and was possible because we choose Ruby on Rails as the technology to implement the system. Ruby on Rails allowed us to build a high-quality web application, in a very short amount of time.

IT Specialister
The project
IT Specialister is a searchable database of IT specialists, used by a growing number of smaller companies in the Øresund region, to advertise the specialists they have available for hire. It allows customers looking for consultants to easily find specialists with the skills they need, across multiple companies, in one place, and contact them through the system. For the companies employing the specialists, it provides a shared marketplace for directly advertising their specialists - bypassing the subcontracters they might otherwise have to use.

The process
The project was started because it seemed difficult for smaller companies to make their specialists available to customers, without using subcontracters. It was important to get the site up and running quickly, so the partners could start feeding the system with information about their specialists. At the same time, since it was a long-term investment, the initial costs of building the system should be low.
A 1.0 version of the site was build by a team of 3 specialists, and put into production in just one week. After another week of refinements by 2 of the specialists, the site was deemed ready to be released to customers and partners.
